The
images created here are to help bring one into the place of the
'inner' landscape
of your'self'. If we gaze at a lovely sunset or visit a 'sacred'
place we 'FEEL' different inside.
In our busy days of life we often don't take or make the time
to visit such places that can nourish our inner selves.
Therefore
I have created these images so you may look at them and let them
take you
to the place in your mind where they really are on our planet.
The sacred landscapes of our ancestors.
They
created these places because it effects humans in a profound way.
For the past 11 years I have taken people on tours to visit these
far away places of the past.
There is an awakening in modern people that we are all connected
and if we imagine that we are in a place
within our minds, our bodies don't know we are not actually there.
As you let your imagination
flow into the picture you may enjoy the experience and benefits
of actually being there.
The ancients knew this and now quantam physics has finally proven
it.
So whether you take the time after a hard days work, relax and gaze
into the image and travel there
or let it do its magic while you do your daily chores or when you
go to sleep.
My intention in making you aware of these places is to create peace
and good health for yourself and others!
Maybe one day you will actually be standing in these places!
Enjoy!

Recumbent
Stone Circle and Sacred Hill of Dunnideer 'Storm' Click

This
is a view over the Inschfield recumbent stone circle looking over
the Aberdeenshire landscape to the
Sacred Hill of Dunnideer.
This hill has 3 stone circles around its base and many that point
to this hill from afar.
It is home to a hill fort of unknown date that boasts some of the
best vitrification to be seen.
Also
the remains of the NE of Scotland's oldest 13Century castle sits
on the very top.
From
the top one is surrounded by 360degrees of breathtaking hills
and to the NW one can clearly see the second highest hill fort,
Tap'O Noth.
Also in its shadow is the pictish symbol stone, the Picardy Stone.
Dunnideer
is also part of three hills that Julian Cope found very captivating.
In his excellent book The Modern Antiquarian (ISBN 0 722535996),
"Here the ubiquitous Dunnideer here unites with the Hill of
O'Christ's Kirk
and the Hill of Flinders as a magical but gentle triple Goddess"
"...Aberdeens
greatest and most Sacred Hill"

Easter
Aquorthies Recumbent Stone Circle 'Field of Dreams' Click
on image for a larger view
This
is an amazing stone circle (aren't they all).
The
interior design of the stones in front of the shaped Recumbent (horizontal
stone) all make this
circle a powerful place of universal Goddess presence. This circle
is very loved and used by many
in the present day for celebration and personal ceremonies.
To the west lies the brooding Mither Tap of Bennachie. (if you look
in the inset pictures in the Bennachie photo, one
of the standing stones scene mimics the top of the Mither Tap. It
is a stone from this circle.)
It has acoustic properties when singing in it and many different
types and colours of stone were used in creating it.
In his book 'Places of Power' page 70 (ISBN 0713727659), Paul Devereux
tells
of the radiation monitoring experiment done here during a lunar
standstill with very interesting results.
Personally I have witnessed many people receive spontaneous insites
and healings here.
Originally the Mither Tap of Bennachie was called the Mither 'Pap'
or Mothers Breast.
The story goes that the 'Victorians' decided to change it to Tap
meaning top.
This sacred mountain lies to the West of the circle,
and one of the tops of the circle stones lines up and matches the
Mither Taps outline on the horizon.
A lot of stone 'design work' has been done to the massive Recumbent
stone with its veins of quartz running through it.
Looking head on one can see the crescent moon shape or maybe setting
sun visually joining
the two inner circle stones that it rests against. Again these two
inner stones are very different.
One is pink and flat topped (LHS) while the other is almost black
with large white pieces of quartz
and in a V shape on its top. In the centre on the ground we find
a thin slip of a stone also protruding into the circle.
Many women on my tours when looking at this 5000 year old sacred
site immediately connect this configuration
or design of stones with fertility and the womb. We do not find
this design around the recumbent in any other
remaining circles in Aberdeenshire to my knowledge.
No surprise that so many are effected on many levels by this image
in the subconscious mind as did our ancestors who created it.

The
Maiden Stone Click
on image for a larger view
Here
we find the beautiful and unique images that survive from the Warrior
Kings and Queens of the Picts.
In many ways Pictish times were a continuation of the Celtic iron
age of the later first millennium BC.
Twelve hundred years ago a Pictish mason or masons completed one
of the most spectacular pieces
of sculpture yet found. Carved out of a 7ft slab of pink granite
this masterpiece has been created in relief.
So all the background of the panels have been chiseled out leaving
a raised image.
A huge undertaking and possible expense.
This symbol stone comes from the end of the Pictish times
where they amalgamated with the Scots of Ireland and became fully
christianised.
The seat of power then moved from the Garioch, the heart of the
Pictish province of Mar,
(this is where the Maiden stone stands in the shadow of the mighty
Mither Tap of Bennachie), south to the area of Angus.
The
stone is carved on all four sides with a Christian scene of knotwork
and the Celtic Cross etc on one side.
It is badly worn however. The side in the photo is of the East Face
and the Pagan side or earlier held beliefs.
It
is made up of four panels. At the bottom are the mirror and comb,
then the Pictish Beastie or posssible Lochness Monster (far from
being a monster),
then moving up to a throne or tower with the Pictish Z rod over
the top of it
and finally at the top a collection of images and possible hunting
scene.
However the main figure very much looks like a centaur.
I am sure not many of those were hunted. So what do they represent?
If you had to create a stone today showing your power or belief
system, what images
would you put on four panels and what would they mean to the people
who found it thousands of years later?
If
you want to know why its called the Maiden stone why don't you come
on a day tour with me and find out!

Stonehead
and Dunnideer
'Portal' Click

Looking
through the stone flanckers and over the recumbent stone at Stonehead
circle lies the
sacred Hill of Dunnideer. Perched on top in its rising solitude
lies the remains of
the oldest castle in the NE. The top of the hill is also almost
surrounded by rings of 'vitrified stone''
from previous inhabitants of unknown date. The stone circle was
created around 3000 BC
(5000 years ago), before the rise of Egypt.
How many people, sunrise, sunsets, moon rises and moon sets have
these stones seen.
What do they remember and what can they tell?

A
montage of different sacred places past and present found in the
Aberdeenshire countryside.
Top left moving clockwise : Cothiemuir stone circle with its 9ft
tall flanckers at Lords throat,
The Pictish 'Craw' stone with salmon and 'Beastie'.
The 'Beastie' as it is known locally is found on many symbol stones
and has its 'own place' on the Maiden Stone.
Obviously a very important symbol. Is this the first representation
of the Lochness Monster?,
Breemie stone circle late afternoon at Lynne of Skene
and finally a look back over Leslie stone circle to the valley in
the East.

Another
montage of different sacred places found in the Aberdeenshire countryside.
Top left moving clockwise : the last of the stones still standing
after 5000 years at Old Rayne recumbent stone circle,
The beautiful Balquhain stone circle and massive 10 ft white quartz
outlier.
Aubrey Burl states in, A guide to the Stone Circles of Britain,
Ireland and Brittany (ISBN 0300063318)
'From the centre of the ring the east flancker once stood in line
with the
most southerly rising of the moon. The western end of the recumbent
marked its setting.
The lavishly decorated circlestone was more esoterically placed.'
and
finally looking at the famous Loanhead of Daviot with its frost
fractured recumbent,
cup marked circle stone aligning to a mid winter sunrise
and a major southern moonset aligned to the west of the recumbent
and its flancker.
Is this solar phenomenon a reason why there are stone pathways connecting
the circle stones to the inner cairn
like at Clava Cairns. Very unusual for a recumbent.
Also the builders would of had a view of the Mither Tap of Bennachie
and
the sacred Hill of Dunnideer
