This is a group or gathering of men from all walks of life, all ages and many nationalities. The only thing we have in common is that we are human and are men. Our stories of where we come from, what events have shaped us into who we presently are, are all different. Similarities no doubt, but different.

So for me at the age of 46 I have found that I am all of a sudden thinking differently and about different things, than I did before. Since this awareness has arisen I have spoken to several other men and on different levels they are experiencing a similar event taking place in themselves. So upon digging deeper I have found that this is quite natural for men, but the journey that accompanies it on a healthy way with wisdom and understanding is no longer widely available in our western culture. The Elders have disappeared or are in old age homes, no longer a benefit to a technology driven society. Soon we will be there to or will we?

Also I have found that we have 30 to 50 year old 'boys' living in our supposed 'advanced society'. We never have been given a rights of passage by Elders and men and not our Fathers when we were 13 or so. Fathers cannot successfully do this for their sons. It must be other men. So this, as a father of a 13 year old son has sparked off a dilemma and a quest to resolve this in myself and as a father for my son and maybe, just maybe our community and society! It appears that I am not alone in feeling like this. Men all over the planet are awakening and asking the questions our Fathers and Grandfathers never did. Have a look at these links

I need to be able to discuss my fears, concerns, doubts with other men and hopefully them with me. So after a few years of 'waiting' and 'gathering' myself the time has come to put it out there. A gathering for men to discuss, support and share without judgment what is it, that 'real men in the 21st century' are meant to be and want to be. A place that is non racial, non religious, non political in Aberdeenshire. A place where men can share as men without alcohol, drugs or the other human species on the planet, women. Please sisters don't take this the wrong way. The dynamic in a group changes immediately these 3 constituents are added to the recipe.

I feel that we also need to create a gathering space together. See the photo below of a great meeting place in the NE of Scotland I recently visited looking for ideas and inspiration. Lets come together as men, creating this space, for us. As a child growing up in South Africa I recollect the fantastic experiences with my other 10 year old mates in our little fort made of branches, making fires, toasting bread and feeling like we were on the wild frontier. So nothing has changed there, except time. I feel we need to make our 'fort' for our fires and places of gathering and sharing. Of course on a grander scale now we are men. The land is here, the materials are being gathered and so what is needed is you and other men, brothers who would like to share equally in this experience. Life is NOT about the destination but about the JOURNEY!

The intention behind this group is discussing and sharing issues that concern us as 21st Century men, our journey called our life, supporting and working together as a group on projects. Sharing skills we might have with our brothers. Passing on skills to younger men, supporting and being supported and valued.
