I feel it is important that if you are going to participate in a ceremony that you know a bit about that person who is running it and where there knowledge comes from. It is with this intention that I am sharing a bit about my path as a 'ceremonial leader'. In particular with the Sweat Lodge Ceremony. This ceremony has been used by many civilisations all over the world for its mental and health purifications. However we find today that generally we have heard about it from the Natives of Turtle Island i.e. America.

My name is Jason Schroeder, I lived the first 33 years of my life in South Africa and the past eleven in the NE of Scotland. I was invited by a traveling 'medicine man', John Twobirds to do a sweat lodge with him and others in the Highlands around 1998/9. A lot has been said about this man and I am sure a lot more will be said. However it is this man that I am indebted to for sharing a ceremony, as he calls it a 'Neo Traditional Way'. That means it is not directly a certain tribes methodology. This 'stealing' of their ceremonies causes much pain in their hearts, when duplicated by 'others' not of their blood line and this is the furthest from my intention to do. Since that first experience and vision that I received my life has changed quite dramatically over the years.

However it has been many years of purifying my 'self' through the Sweat, other Ceremonies and being apprenticed to Native Elders and Healers in total for the past twenty years, that finally I have accepted the responsibility of 'being there' for others by leading a Sweat Lodge Ceremony. It has not been an easy path, with many tears shed and much sweat given away to the Grand Mother and Grand Father and Stone Relatives over the past decade. I have many Grand Fathers, Grand Mothers and teachers to thank for openly sharing their wisdom, guiding and equipping me along the path from many different tribes of our world. I traveled quite extensively in the early years and have done Sweat Lodges in Scotland, England, America and Australia. I started pouring lodges for myself and Elders in 2001 and finally for others (public) in 2004.

I now 'pour' a Lodge that utilises the 'sacred geometry' of the Ceremony from my filtered understanding and experience of it . I invoke the 'unseen' world in my own Way, that has come through the years of personal development and dedication to this Way of Life. Honouring those that went before, those who walk this Way now and those that are to come.

So indeed a blend of the old and the new for the 'new people' of the world. A blending of cultures, nationalities in these final days, before the birth of the so called 'Rainbow Nation'. Spiritual Beings who will walk with truth, integrity and compassion for others. Gratitude shining from their eyes for all that they have and all that they can give. A heart that 'consciously' beats in rhythm with the rest of Creation.

So no matter what your background, bloodline, colour of your skin, what job you do or don't do or what you own or don't own. If I can be of service to you in creating a Sacred space for you to find your Divine Self, like I did, then maybe you to feel an inner calling for this Ceremony that goes beyond modern logic and reason, but 'feels' right in your heart.

I am a South African who did Ceremony in the ancient Highlands of Scotland lead by an Ojibwe/Choctaw Elder from America. From the corners of the Earth we traveled and met, did Ceremony and created a new healing 'dream'. Was this divine syncronicity, chance or fate. Whatever is not important. What is, is that we did it and created a healthy 'change' that benefited myself and others.
